Journey Said It Best… “Don’t Stop Believing”!
Apologies if you’re going to be singing that all day now… although it is a tune! Anyway, I’ll get to the point 😂
Last week I did an exercise which asked me to describe my ideal day in my dream life.
In it, I wrote that I’d wake up at 6am, open my bedroom doors directly out onto my veranda which overlooks the beach. After taking in the view, I’d roll out my yoga mat and do my 30-minute yoga practice. Then Chris and I would take the dog down onto the beach front for an early morning walk.
When I’d finished, I read over it and realised that, although there were quite a few elements that wouldn’t be possible at the moment (mainly due to the fact that I don’t live on a house on the beach yet! 😆), there were definitely parts that I could incorporate into my everyday life now, like getting up early to practice yoga.
So, for the past few days, I’ve been setting my alarm for 6am and getting up to do my 30 minute yoga practice.
This has been quite a big change to my routine, as normally I wait until the kids go to bed at night before I do my yoga practice.
But I’m finding I much prefer to practice early in the morning when everyone else is still sleeping and the house is quiet. I even have time to fill out my gratitude journal afterwards, which is something I’ve been trying to do over the past few months but haven’t managed to do consistently until now.
I’ve found that I feel much more positive for the rest of the day and am also a lot more productive.
It can be easy to adopt the mentality of “if only…” but there is a lot you can do right now to start living a life of your own design.
So, what would your ideal day in your dream life look like?
Sit down for 10 minutes and write it down in as much detail as you can.
Then, if you have the ability to make something happen from it now, don’t talk yourself out of it. Do it!
I’d love to know what you’re going to start doing that’ll move you one step closer to living your dream life so reply and let me know!
If, like me, yoga features in your ideal day, then here’s a practice that you can easily incorporate into your day now. It’s a sequence for biceps but, don’t worry, there are no push ups involved, just poses that stretch into and gently tone the arms. It’s also beneficial for the hamstrings, glutes and lower back and is only 14 minutes long so super easy to fit in!
